There is more to Philadelphia than just cheesesteaks and soft pretzels. It is America’s first capital and the birthplace of American freedom. Although sometimes hidden in the shadows of New York and Washington D.C., Philadelphia is one of the greatest cities in the United States and should never be overlooked. Filled with art, culture, and history, the City of Brotherly Love is broken down into several different neighborhoods. One of the most vibrant parts of the city would have to be Old City. It houses the historical monuments and buildings, including: Independence Hall, Christ Church, and the Liberty Bell. All of these are free to the public, and shed light on over 200 years of American history. Old City is found between Center City and Penn’s Landing. The area is easily accessible by using the Market Street Subway Line, or it is a nice ten-block walk from City Hall.
