I’ve been anticipating my plan to go to Batanes last December 2013, but my flights have been canceled twice, so I have to go for another airlines which is Philippine Airlines. Travelling to Batanes has been tagged as really expensive, well that’s partly true. To tour Batanes the cheapest way, you have to wait for Airline Seatsale! Since I cannot wait anymore, I booked my flight despite its high price. I intend to unwind in Batanes, so this time, I availed of Full Board Package at Batanes Seaside Lodge instead of doing in on my own. My package details can be found here. Since I am travelling solo, I pay P16,000. I also made a request to take a motorbike instead of Van. Even if you do it on your own, it will still cost you much. You would need to hire a tourguide, or a car, since there isn’t always PUV passing by. I think you have to hire a tricycle or rent a bike. I arrived in Batanes 8am via PAL Express. FREEZING COLD! A guy from Batanes Seaside lodge fetched me ( I forgot his name!) I love my room! It’s facing the beach, and there’s also […]

Last month Visit Britain released its most recent sets of figures for global visitors to Great Britain. There were no huge surprises but the general trend is up. Our best customers in terms of frequency are our nearest neighbours: France and Germany but when it comes to the most valuable markets we still look across the pond to our American cousins! However all of these markets pale into insignificance when we look at those individuals who spend the most amount of money! When it comes down to average spend per visit the undisputed kings of cash are the Kuwaitis who spent over £4,100 per visit in 2012. This was a massive increase on anything achieved previously either by the Kuwaitis or any other country ever – it makes you wonder whether the purchase of Nottingham Forest Football Club by Kuwaiti businessman Fawaz Al Hasawi was included in the figures! *** Image credit: Simon Harding Here are the top five – no matter what souvenirs they took home with them! • Kuwait – £4136 • Indonesia – £2519 • Saudi Arabia – £2342 • Oman – £1950 • Qatar – £1870 At the other end of the scale the list is […]

Budget Travel/Destinations/DIY Itineraries/EuropeEurope is one of the world’s most lusted destinations, and the city of Madrid in Spain is no exception from this. But apart from the picturesque sceneries provided by hovering classical structures, historical landmarks, and magnificent highways, there is so much more to discover about the capital that may be unknown to many people until now. One misconception that many have about Madrid or any other European destination for that matter is that one will have to break the bank in order to have the trip of a lifetime. This may be partly true, but with the right resources, some strategic planning, and a great deal of research, traveling to Madrid while staying on a budget should be possible. Madrid in winter The first tip that one must remember when planning a budget-friendly Madrid trip is to go there during the winter when air fares are lower and tourist population takes a plunge from its usual density.
