There is no other part of the world that holds the kind of mystique that Africa is sometimes referred to as the Dark Continent. For centuries, this land mass has captivated the curiosity and imagination of adventurers and explorers, and for valid reasons. The treasures of Africa certainly don’t disappoint those who take on the challenge of exploring it. Thankfully, it is not as hazardous in the modern times as in adventure novels from the past centuries and the story of the adventures of David Livingstone.
Here are five destinations in Africa that you must not miss for the world.
1. Giza, Egypt
The Pyramids of Giza hardly need a mention in this list. The only surviving wonder of the ancient world would immediately become the most preferred destination for many travelers who haven’t experienced to witness their majesty. It’s a feather every traveler must have in their hat and it can also offer you quality time too, especially if you are in the mood for a camel ride or simply a daring climb to the top of the Khufu. But while you are in Egypt, there is also no harm in checking out other Ancient Egyptian attractions at destinations such as Karnak and Abu SImbel temples in Luxor and Nubia on a Nile cruise.
2. Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe
One of the most breathtaking spectacles in Africa is witnessing the splendor of the Victoria Falls. One of the highest waterfall in the world, it is formed by the watercourse of Zambezi river and is located right on the border of Zimbabwe and Zambia. Apart from the view and the experience, the destination is also known for offering rich wildlife attractions in its vicinity. However, visiting the Zambian side of Victoria Falls could offer the opportunity to swim in the Devil’s Pools at the top. Make sure to visit during the rainy season.
3. Serengeti National Park, Tanzania
If an African Safari is the reason drawing you towards the continent, then there is probably no better place to be than the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania. However, it could prove costly to plan your trip without doing your homework. Even though no one can accurately predict the wildebeest migration, but the best time to catch it is between the months of July and September. Following the Mara river will surely get you some amazing shots to show off later.
4. Fish River Canyon, Hobas, Namibia
Even though you may not be expecting it in the Top 5 African destinations, it would not have been fair to ignore one of the most significant natural wonders in Africa. Fish River Canyon is the second largest canyon in the world and is a hiker’s dream come true. The Fish River Canyon Hiking Trail is one of the most popular trails in the Southern African region and boasts some of the most excited landscapes on the planet. It will be no surprise if this place reminds you of the Grand Canyon.
5. Cape Town, South Africa
Whenever you have had enough of the wild, then there is no better urban destination in the entire continent than Cape Town. World famous for its spectacular Table Mountain, there is plenty to do in this city. With its vibrant nightlife and the famous Clifton Beach, Cape Town is not just a place to party, as it is also a historic city with sites such as Robben Island, the world famous Apartheid-era prison island that held Nelson Mandela for years. A hike to the top of the Table Mountain guarantees one of the most breathtaking panoramic views
The bucket list of every travel enthusiast contains at least one of these destinations. If you are planning to fly to Africa this season, make sure they are on your itinerary.
